Sell your U-Haul gift card for cash
Sell your U-Haul gift certificate for 75% of the balance. $10 minimum and no maximum, with payment initiated within 24 hours.
U-Haul calls them gift certificates rather than gift cards, and they are sold in any amount from $5 to $1,000. They are good against far more than trucks: trailer and towing equipment, self-storage rent, moving supplies like boxes and tape, and Moving Help labour all draw on the same certificate. That breadth is why they are a common housewarming and new-job gift, and also why so many of them outlive the move they were bought for.
The pattern we see is almost always a move that changed shape. A relocation falls through, an employer covers the move after all, a family member turns up with a pickup truck, or the whole thing happens six months later with a different company. The certificate does not expire, so it waits — and because nothing prompts you to spend it, it keeps waiting.
Redemption is a single value. The certificate number goes into the gift card or discount code field at checkout, and the same number is what U-Haul's own certificate page uses to look up a balance. There is no PIN on a U-Haul certificate, so if someone has asked you for one, something is wrong with what you are holding.
Worth knowing before you decide: if the certificate exceeds your order, U-Haul does not refund the difference in cash, and if the order exceeds the certificate you simply pay the rest. So a large certificate against a small need strands most of the value, which is the case where converting it makes the most sense.
U-Haul certificates do not expire and carry no fees, and the number works online and at a store counter alike. The easiest way to use an awkward remainder is supplies rather than a rental: boxes, tape, furniture pads and mattress bags all draw on the same balance, and a storage payment will absorb almost any figure.
Keep it if a move, a storage unit or a trailer tow is genuinely on the calendar, because the certificate is worth its full face value the moment any of those happens. Sell it when the move is behind you, when the company you are moving with is not U-Haul, or when it was a gift for a relocation that someone else ended up paying for — all three leave a balance with nothing to attach itself to.
We pay 75% of the verified balance on U-Haul certificates, from $10 up with no ceiling. Rental and travel credit is slower to verify and harder to resell than ordinary store credit, which is what separates this from the standard 80%. A $300 certificate pays $225.
Check the balance on U-Haul's own certificate page before you submit, using the certificate number, and enter the figure exactly — part-spent certificates are common because supplies and storage rent chip away at them in small amounts. Every one is verified by hand before payment, and a corrected balance is shown to you before any money moves.
Nothing is final until you submit. You can still back out at review.

How to check your U-Haul balance
Check it on U-Haul's own site before you sell. You will need the certificate number — U-Haul cards carry one code and no PIN. The code is usually under a scratch-off panel on the back, or in the email if the card is digital. Enter the balance here exactly as it reads.
