Sell your Target gift card for cash
Get 80% of your unused Target GiftCard balance in cash, paid by PayPal or Cash App within 24 hours. $10 to $2,000 per card.
Target GiftCards cluster around life events. They are the default for baby showers and wedding registries, because Target is where a large share of registries live, and they are a standard teacher gift, graduation gift and holiday gift. What that means in practice is that a lot of Target balances belong to people who received them for one specific purpose, spent most of it on that purpose, and are now holding the remainder with no plan for it.
Target cards also survive unusually well. They do not expire, they carry no inactivity fees, and the balance stays exactly where it was — which sounds like a virtue and is precisely why a card can sit in a drawer for four years without anyone feeling any pressure about it.
A detail worth knowing: a Target GiftCard is not the same as a Target Circle offer, a RedCard discount, or a merchandise return card, and people routinely conflate them. If the thing you are holding is a plastic card with a 15-digit number and an access number under a scratch-off panel, that is a GiftCard and it is what we buy. A return card with store credit from a refund generally works the same way at the till but is issued differently — check the balance first either way.
Our rate is 80% of the verified balance, flat, on cards from $10 to $2,000. A $250 card pays $200. There is no tiering, so a small card is not penalised and a large one gets no premium. Partially used cards are welcome; most of what we buy has already been spent against.
Target GiftCards can be used in store, on target.com, and in the Target app, and they can be added to a Target account so the balance travels with you rather than living on a piece of plastic. Adding a card to an account is convenient and it does make the credit harder to sell afterwards, so decide which you want before you register it.
There is a specific case where holding beats selling: Target runs regular gift card promotions where cards are discounted or bonus credit is added, and if you shop there routinely, credit bought or received at a discount is effectively money ahead. If none of that applies — no nearby store, no upcoming purchase, a card that arrived from a shower for a baby who is now at school — then the balance is doing nothing and 80% now beats 100% never.
Check your balance at target.com/guest/gift-card-balance before submitting. You will need the card number and the access number from the back. Enter what it actually reads rather than what you remember it being — we verify before paying, and if the confirmed figure is lower, you see the revised offer and get to walk away with the card still yours.
Payment goes out by PayPal or Cash App within 24 hours of verification, or by paper check in 5 to 7 business days if you would rather have a cheque. There are no fees on any of those, and nothing is deducted from the number you accept.
Nothing is final until you submit. You can still back out at review.

How to check your Target balance
Check it on Target's own site before you sell. You will need the full card number and the PIN — usually under a scratch-off strip on the back, or in the confirmation email for a digital card. Enter the balance here exactly as it reads.
