Sell your Costco gift card for cash
We buy unused Costco Shop Cards at 80% of the balance, $10 to $2,000 per card, paid within 24 hours.
The Costco Shop Card is a slightly different animal from an ordinary gift card, and the difference is why a lot of them go unspent. Shop Cards are frequently given to people who are not Costco members themselves — as gifts, prizes or rebates — and someone without a membership has a much narrower route to spending one than the giver assumed.
Even among members, Costco credit runs into the bulk problem. Costco sells in quantities designed for households that plan around them. A modest Shop Card balance does not slot neatly into that: it is not enough for the big-ticket items people go to Costco for, and using it up on groceries means making a trip specifically to spend a card.
Shop Cards also have no expiry and no fees, so there is never any deadline pressure. Combine a card with no expiry, a warehouse you may not be able to enter, and purchase sizes that do not match the balance, and you have a card that can sit untouched for years.
We pay 80% of the verified balance, flat, with no tiering, on single cards from $10 to $2,000. A $250 Shop Card pays $200. Partially used cards are welcome and priced identically per dollar.
Costco Shop Cards do not expire and carry no fees, and they can be reloaded. They are also one of the few Costco payment instruments that circulates freely as a gift, which is why so many end up with people who have no membership of their own and no immediate way to use one.
If you are a member, spending is straightforward and the card is worth full value on a normal trip. If you are not, and you have no intention of joining, the honest position is that a Shop Card is not much use to you — and 80% of it in cash is worth considerably more than a card for a warehouse you cannot conveniently shop at.
You can check a Shop Card balance on Costco's own Shop Card page using the card number and the four-digit PIN from the back. Costco's site is one that blocks automated requests fairly aggressively, so use a normal browser window.
We verify the balance with Costco before paying. If it is lower than you entered, you see the corrected offer at the same rate before anything moves, and you can decline and keep the card at no cost.
Nothing is final until you submit. You can still back out at review.
