We’re not buying Visa prepaid gift cards
We are not buying Visa prepaid cards at the moment, and it is worth being straight about why rather than leaving you guessing.
The reason
Open-loop bank card. It spends like cash anywhere, which makes it far too easy to drain before we can verify it.
This is a limitation of how the card works rather than anything to do with Visa prepaid as a brand. Plenty of perfectly good cards are difficult to verify or resell, and we would rather turn one down than take it on and then dispute the balance with you afterwards.
If you are holding one and want the value, the most reliable route is to spend it yourself, or to give it to somebody who will. If you would rather sell a different card, the brands below all pay up to 80% of the balance within 24 hours.
If Visa prepaid becomes buyable again we will say so. Leave an email address and you will hear about it the week it changes.
